The MDCC-Arena, located in Magdeburg, opened on 19 December 2006 with a Bundesliga-style football match between 1. FC Magdeburg and BTSV Eintracht, attended by 13,000 fans. The stadium was constructed at a cost of €31 million, providing a modern venue for domestic and regional football competitions.
FC Magdeburg, founded in 1965, has been the stadium’s primary tenant since its opening. The club has a storied history, including winning the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1974, making it the only East German club to achieve a major European trophy.
