Horse arena is an enclosed area usually used for indoor or outdoor equestrian training and performances, sporting events, rodeos and entertainment purposes. Whether you are upgrading lighting on an existing stage or setting up lighting in a new space, it is vital to ensure that your stage has excellent lighting. You must choose the right lights and lamp positions to get the best lumen output and performance. The most important factors we need to consider when choosing arena lighting are lighting intensity, energy efficiency, safety, and limited light intrusion.
Generally, the illuminance of a training outdoor arena can accept 150-250lux, although this depends on the size of the arena. For hunter/jumper training, the recommended illuminance is 400lux. And for dressage, the recommended minimum is 500lux. If you want to illuminate a highly competitive performance platform, then 700lux is suitable.
Horse Arena: If the height is 100M and the width is 50M and there are eight poles, then there should be sixteen fixtures mounted at 12M high with two 600W lights on each pole.

MECREE has a professional engineer teams with strong research and development ability and design ability. With rich experience on the sport field and they will take it into consideration about the actual site and lighting requirements to choose the best suitable model for your horse arena.
Even you have no any ideas at all? It doesn’t matter, just tell us your requirements or yourhorse arena type, and we can do different solutions with different designs for you until you are satisfied.
If the horse arena is used for entertainment or training purposes, the lux requirement will be around 250 lux, which provides enough brightness for the rider and horse to be clearly visible. Then, if you ask how many lumens does the lighting equestrian arena have? We will say that for every 100 square meters of indoor or outdoor field, we need 100 x 250 = 25,000 lumens.
If the high mast light is very high, we need to choose a more powerful light or higher lumen lights. Through the above calculation, you can get a preliminary understanding of how to light up the equestrian arena.
Color temperature is a feature of visible light that affects the visual appearance of the environment. The CCT for sports arena purposes falls within the pure white range (5000K). For sport field lighting, we need to pay more attention for the distribution of light to ensure that your lamp does not cause glare or shadows. However, this is especially important for horses. Since these animals are easily frightened, you will need to make sure that the environment is as close as possible to daylight when you are lighting the horse arena or cycling ring. Thus most of clients will choose 4000K or 5000K for the arena.
One challenge for outdoor horse arena lighting is exposure to these elements that from wind and rain to dust and animals, these lights should be able to handle everything. And there are similar problems with indoor rings. Since the footing of a racecourse is usually some form of sand, these lights may have more dust than outdoor lights. Please keep all of these in mind and make sure to pay attention to the IP66 or IP67 rating of the horse arena lighting.
