How many lights are needed?
Proper planning requires a lighting design plan.
Photometric software allows accurate placement of poles and lights, calculates foot-candle levels, uniformity, and coverage.
Guessing the wattage or optics can result in poor performance; a lighting plan is the first step to successful LED conversion.
Beam Angle Selection:
Beam angle determines light spread and central intensity.
Larger angles produce wider coverage but lower central intensity; smaller angles concentrate light.
Color Temperature:
Expressed in Kelvin (K).
For volleyball courts, ≥3000 K is recommended.
Cool white (5000–6000 K) is ideal for player visibility and audience experience.
