What is Hazardous Area Lighting?

The hazardous area lighting is an application for places with unique conditions requiring lighting that can withstand and be safe in specific conditions. It is designed to minimize the risk of explosion caused by any sparks inside the enclosure or any other accident and to ensure the overall well-being of not only workers but also businesses. When you use LED hazardous area lights, it further ensures you save on energy costs without compromising safety. Our hazardous area floodlights undergo rigorous testing and safety procedures, undergo rigorous quality checks, and are certified before being sold for use.

What are the classifications of hazardous locations?

Hazardous (Classified) Locations in accordance with Article 500, NEC – 1990

Class I

Division 1

In which ignitable concentration of flammable gases or vapors:

▲ Exists under normal operating conditions

▲ Exists frequently because of repair operations, maintenance operations, leakage

▲ Are released through breakdown or faulty operation of equipment or processes in which the pollution causes electrical equipment to become a source of ignition.

Division 2

In which ignitable concentration of flammable gases or vapors:

▲ Are generally confined within closed containers when handled, processed, or used.

▲ Are generally prevented by positive mechanical ventilation

▲ Are adjacent to a Class I, Division 1 location

Class II

Division 1

In which combustible dust:

▲ Exists under normal conditions

▲ Exists because of mechanical failure or abnormal operation of equipment and machinery. This might also provide a source of ignition through the simultaneous failure of electric equipment, operation of protection devices, or other causes.

▲ Present in hazardous quantities of electrically conductive nature

In which combustible dust:

▲ Are not normally in the air

▲ Accumulations are not sufficient to interfere with normal operation

▲ Are suspended in the air as a result of infrequent malfunctioning of handling equipment or processing equipment

▲ Accumulations may be sufficient to interfere with the safe dissipation of heat from electrical equipment

▲ Accumulation may be ignitable by abnormal operation or failure of electrical equipment

Class III

Division 1

Which easily ignitable fibers or materials producing combustible flyings are: handled, manufactured, used

Division 2

Which easily ignitable fibers or materials producing combustible flyings are: stored and handled. Other than the process of manufacture

General Requirements for Hazardous Area Lighting

Provides “benchmarks for safe electrical design, installation and inspection for the protection of persons and property from electrical hazards”. It covers electrical installation/removal, electrical conductors, equipment and piping etc. in public and private premises, industrial substations etc.

IP Rating: Ingress Protection or International Degree of Protection is a set of codes used to rate and classify the degree of protection that mechanical and electrical enclosures provide against different components. Some of these factors include dust and water, intrusion, accidental contact, etc.

IK Rating: According to UL, the impact protection rating is defined as “IKXX, where “XX” is a number from 00 to 10, indicating the degree of protection of electrical enclosures (including lamps) against external mechanical shock”. It determines the ability of an electrical or lighting enclosure to withstand high-energy shocks, how it should be installed, atmospheric conditions, and other criteria.

NEMA: The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) defines different heavy-duty electrical enclosures for various lighting categories, depending on access to hazardous parts and other type-related specified environmental conditions. This LED product is commonly found in industrial and hazardous locations.

ATEX: Atmosphères Explosibles (ATEX) is an EU certification standard “covering equipment and protective systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres”. According to UL, HazLoc and explosion proof equipment “intended to be installed” in the European Union shall comply with the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.

IECEx: The International Electrotechnical Commission Certification System for Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres (IECEx System) aims to “facilitate international trade in equipment and services for use in explosive atmospheres while maintaining the required level of safety”. It defines an “Ex” area as a “hazardous location”, “hazardous area” or “explosive atmosphere”.

RoHS: The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. HazLoc LED products with RoHS certification not only guarantee quality, but also sustainable practices.

MECREE has launched the following series of LED Sport Stadium Lighting:

  1. SPL series stadium lights are designed for 160 feet to 1000 feet of lighting distances and 4K, 8K HD broadcasting.
  2. AFL series stadium lights are designed for lighting distances from 50 feet to 330 feet and improve the brightness uniformity.
  3. P73 series stadium lights are designed for the precise light control needs of the North American and European markets. The Upward Light Ratio of the P73 series LED stadium lights is 0%.

MECREE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED PLC (PRECISE LIGHT CONTROL) TO MEET THE NEEDS OF SUCH USERS, POLARIZED LIGHT 73°DEFINED AS P73 SERIES PRODUCTS, P73 SERIES PRODUCTS TO BRING YOU AN UNPRECEDENTED VISUAL FEAST.

New LED Sports Lighting Solution Provider

PRECISE CONTROL OF LIGHT 1

-OPTICS 10X BETTER

P73

Our precisely engineered optics of polarized light aim light directly onto the field of play, to shine uniformly and to minimize glare. Outdoor venues benefit from spill light control, no more skyglow and no more complaints from the neighbors.

COMPETITORS

1. Such light shield is useless, just misleading customers.
2. As tested it will cause 30% reduction of light output
3. While 70% still have high overflow
4. Unbearable strong glare
5. Waste energy,outdated reflective technology

PRECISE CONTROL OF LIGHT 1

-OPTICS 10X BETTER

REMOTE DRIVER

The power supply and lamp body can be mounted separately, reducing the withstand weight of the lamp pole and facilitating maintenance.

CONVENIENT INSTALLATION 3

-EASY CROSSARM REPLACEMENT

Customized crossarms are available to meet all your existing old poles without replacing the main rod, crossarms bolt directly to light pole, easy and accurate installation saves time, ensures performance, safety and reliability, also lower the budget.
