Initial Upgrades (2018-2019): The first major phase focused on the core playing area, involving a complete turf replacement and a critical overhaul of the pitch’s drainage and irrigation systems. This solved long-standing waterlogging issues and provided a pitch meeting Liga 1 standards.
Comprehensive Modernization (2022): This phase revolutionized the spectator experience and infrastructure. All 16,000 old terrace seats were replaced with modern, individual orange and black seats, creating Borneo FC’s distinct visual identity. The lighting system was upgraded to a 1,500 lux LED array, enabling high-definition night broadcasts. Player facilities (dressing rooms, gym) and areas for media and VIPs were also completely renovated to professional standards.
Pursuit of Elite Standards (2023-2024): The most recent upgrades targeted world-class quality. A state-of-the-art hybrid grass system was installed, combining natural grass with synthetic fibers for unparalleled durability and playability. A large high-definition LED video scoreboard was added to enhance the in-stadium fan experience, alongside a complete overhaul of the sound system and stadium security.
Stadion Segiri holds official licenses from both the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) for all domestic competitions and has obtained AFC Stadium Criteria approval, allowing it to host continental matches.
Beyond sports, the stadium is a major community and economic hub. It inspires youth football development in the region and drives significant local economic activity on match days. It stands as a powerful symbol of regional pride and identity for the people of East Kalimantan.
