Stadion Gelora Haji Agus Salim is the main stadium in Padang, the capital of West Sumatra, Indonesia. Originally opened in 1985, it is named after Haji Agus Salim, a revered Indonesian national hero, diplomat, and Islamic scholar who was born in West Sumatra.
The stadium is a true multi-sport complex, designed with a running track for athletics and used for rugby union, but it is most famous as the fortress of one of Indonesia’s most historic football clubs.
The stadium’s design reflects its varied uses:
Athletics Track: A 400-meter synthetic track surrounds the pitch, making it the primary athletics venue for the region.
Rugby Union: It has hosted matches for the Indonesian national rugby team and local rugby competitions.

The stadium is synonymous with Semen Padang FC, one of Indonesia’s oldest and most respected clubs, founded in 1980.

These renovations included the installation of individual seats across all stands, which reduced its official capacity from its original 28,000 to around 20,000. The running track was also upgraded to a modern synthetic surface.
