Stadion Gajayana is one of the most historic and iconic football stadiums in Indonesia. True to its description, it opened in 1926 during the Dutch colonial era, making it one of the oldest surviving major sports venues in the country. Located in the football-passionate city of Malang, East Java, it has rightfully earned its status as one of the major sports venues in East Java and a landmark of Indonesian football heritage.
The stadium is named after Gajayana, a legendary 8th-century king of the ancient Kanjuruhan Kingdom that once ruled the Malang area, connecting the venue to the region’s deep historical roots.
