Bursa Büyükşehir Belediye Stadyumu (Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Stadium) is the modern home of Bursaspor, inaugurated on December 21, 2015. This state-of-the-art arena replaced the club’s iconic but outdated ground, the Bursa Atatürk Stadium. Located in the Yıldırım district, the stadium was built to commemorate and build upon the greatest achievement in the club’s history, providing a 21st-century fortress for its passionate supporters.
The stadium is the lair of Bursaspor, a club that shattered the established order of Turkish football.

Nickname: “Yeşil Timsah” (The Green Crocodile). The plural, “Yeşil Timsahlar”, refers to the team and its fans, symbolizing strength, resilience, and a fearsome presence.
Historic Achievement – The 2010 Miracle: In the 2009-10 Süper Lig season, Bursaspor achieved the unthinkable. They won the Turkish football championship, breaking the 26-year monopoly held by the Istanbul “Big Three” (Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş). This triumph made them only the second club from outside Istanbul ever to win the title and cemented their legendary status.
European Debut: As a direct result of their title win, Bursaspor made their historic debut in the UEFA Champions League in the 2010-11 season, competing on Europe’s grandest club stage against the continent’s elite.

The old Atatürk Stadium, while atmospheric, was no longer fit for a Turkish champion and Champions League participant.
