Arena das Dunas is a modern, world-class football stadium located in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Designed by internationally renowned architect Populous, the venue is recognized for its striking dune-inspired façade and its central role in hosting matches during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Since its opening in 2014, Arena das Dunas has become one of the most iconic sports and entertainment venues in northeastern Brazil.
Arena das Dunas was built specifically for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, one of the largest sporting events in the world. Between June and July 2014, the stadium welcomed national teams from:

Mexico (United Mexican States)

Uruguay
A total of four World Cup matches were played at the venue.
The inaugural World Cup match at Arena das Dunas was held on 13 June 2014, when Mexico defeated Cameroon 1–0 in front of 39,000 spectators. This historic match marked the global debut of the new stadium.
América Futebol Clube, founded in 1915, is the primary tenant of the stadium. The club played its first Brazilian top-flight match in 1973, and along with local rivals ABC, became one of the first sports organizations in Rio Grande do Norte to surpass 100,000 followers on major social media platforms.
Although Arena das Dunas opened in 2014, its development and continuous improvements reflect its position as a modern, multi-purpose sports complex.
Construction began in 2011, guided by strict FIFA standards for safety, comfort, and broadcast requirements. Key design features include:
