The total construction costs amounted to $160 million, with completion delayed due to heavy snowfall during the construction period.

The arena has a seating capacity of approximately 18,000, while its ice hockey configuration accommodates around 17,000 spectators. Since its opening, TD Garden has become one of the most prominent sports and entertainment venues in the United States.

Renovations and Facility Upgrades

Over the years, TD Garden has undergone multiple renovations and modernization projects to enhance comfort, technology, and event flexibility.

Major upgrades include:

  • Seating and concourse renovations to improve fan circulation and accessibility

  • Installation of high-definition video boards and modern sound systems

  • Upgraded locker rooms, training areas, and media facilities

  • Expansion of premium seating, club lounges, and hospitality suites

  • Improvements to lighting, ice-making systems, and broadcast infrastructure

  • Facility upgrades to support non-sporting events, including concerts and political gatherings

These renovations ensure TD Garden remains a state-of-the-art arena capable of hosting a wide variety of events year-round.

Multi-Event Venue

TD Garden is widely known for hosting a diverse range of events, including:

  • Basketball

  • Ice hockey

  • Boxing and mixed martial arts

  • Box lacrosse and figure skating

  • Concerts and live entertainment

The Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics

TD Garden has been the home of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 1995.

  • The Boston Bruins played their first game at the arena on 7 October 1995, drawing 4–4 against the New York Islanders.

  • The Boston Celtics played their first game at the venue on 3 November 1995, losing to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Both teams have made TD Garden a central part of their sporting identity.

Stanley Cups and NBA Championship Titles

The Boston Bruins are one of the most successful clubs in NHL history. They won their first Stanley Cup in 1929, defeating the New York Rangers, and have claimed several Stanley Cup titles since.

Larry Joe Bird, widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, played numerous matches for the Boston Celtics during his professional career. In the 1980s, he led the team to three NBA championship titles. Larry Bird spent his entire NBA playing career with the Celtics and later became the manager of the Indiana Pacers in 1997.

Role in American Sports

Preface

1. Optimal Experience

With the growing popularity of nighttime sports events, professional competitions demand higher lighting quality. The glare from traditional fixtures can no longer meet athletes’ expectations for sensory experience. Leveraging breakthroughs in MECREE’s sports lighting technology, our precise light control and anti-glare designs enable athletes to perform at their peak and enjoy an exceptional sports experience.

2.Impact of Light Pollution

Issues caused by unnecessary nighttime lighting, such as light pollution and light trespass, are increasingly concerning and have led to rising public complaints. Amid growing environmental awareness, lighting designers must prioritize controlling “Light Pollution” and “Light Trespass.” We are committed to addressing this challenge through innovative optical technologies.

What kind of light is used in stadiums?

Currently common traditional stadium lights model for some international stadiums as below:
MVF406/1800W, HNF003, MVF401, MVF403, MVF024, EF-2000, YOA56305, YOAX56400, 2kW: HQI-TS 2000WDS, 2kW: HQI-TS 1000WDS, MHN-SA 2KW 400V/956, MHN-SB/HO 2KW 400V/956, LPW2000M/D, LPW1000MB/L, LPP2000MHN-SA, LPP2000MHN-SB.
There is big problem that traditional lamps can not cannot meet the needs of 4K and 8K high-definition broadcast and huge energy consumption.
With the strengthening of environmental lighting awareness and the pursuit of high-quality lighting, there is a trend to replace traditional lamps by high quality of LED Stadium Lights.
MECREE has launched the following series of LED Sport Stadium Lighting:

  1. R580 series stadium lights are designed for 160 feet to 1000 feet of lighting distances and 4K, 8K HD broadcasting.
  2. AFL series stadium lights are designed for lighting distances from 50 feet to 330 feet and improve the brightness uniformity.
  3. P73-L and A65 series stadium lights are designed for the precise light control needs of the North American and European markets. The Upward Light Ratio of the P73P73–L/A65 series LED stadium lights is 0%.

MECREE’s specially engineered precision lighting control is designed to meet the needs of such users. The polarized light range of 65-73° is defined as the P73-L and A65 series products, which deliver an unparalleled visual experience while offering access to thousands of IES profiles.

New LED Sports Lighting Solution Provider

PRECISE CONTROL OF LIGHT 1

-OPTICS 10X BETTER

A65

Our precisely engineered optics of polarized light aim light directly onto the field of play, to shine uniformly and to minimize glare. Outdoor venues benefit from spill light control, no more skyglow and no more complaints from the neighbors.

COMPETITORS

1. Such light shield is useless, just misleading customers.
2. As tested it will cause 30% reduction of light output
3. While 70% still have high overflow
4. Unbearable strong glare
5. Waste energy,outdated reflective technology

PRECISE CONTROL OF LIGHT 1

-OPTICS 10X BETTER

REMOTE DRIVER

The power supply and lamp body can be mounted separately, reducing the withstand weight of the lamp pole and facilitating maintenance.

CONVENIENT INSTALLATION 3

-EASY CROSSARM REPLACEMENT

Customized crossarms are available to meet all your existing old poles without replacing the main rod, crossarms bolt directly to light pole, easy and accurate installation saves time, ensures performance, safety and reliability, also lower the budget.

How to accurately aim the lights in the stadium?

In current sports lighting projects, high-altitude light calibration is recognized as a major efficiency bottleneck. The process carries high safety risks, is prone to aiming deviations, and involves cumbersome installation and removal procedures, making it difficult to achieve the required uniformity.

MECREE’s innovative laser aiming mount was designed precisely to address these issues. It revolutionizes the workflow through three key advantages:

Easy Installation: With a simple design, it allows rapid mounting and dismounting, significantly lowering the operational threshold.

Precise Aiming: Ensures accurate laser alignment, fundamentally guaranteeing uniform illumination and compliance with lighting standards.

Efficient Operation: Reduces labor and time costs by up to 80%. Calibrating 200 fixtures at height previously took 20 days; now the same workload can be completed in just 4 days.

Choosing MECREE means choosing a safer, more precise, and highly efficient sports lighting solution.
