The Singapore Indoor Stadium is the nation’s flagship multi-purpose indoor sporting and entertainment venue. Opened on December 31, 1989, it is a cornerstone of the Singapore Sports Hub complex in Kallang. Designed by the Japanese architect Kenzo Tange, its distinctive and iconic domed roof, resembling a mangosteen or a durian to some observers, has made it a recognizable landmark on Singapore’s skyline.
The stadium was conceived to provide a world-class venue for major international indoor events and has successfully fulfilled that role for over three decades.
