SANGA STADIUM by KYOCERA is a modern football stadium located in Kameoka, Kyoto Prefecture. With a seating capacity of 21,000, it serves as the official home ground of Kyoto Sanga and represents a new era for professional football in the Kyoto region.
Construction of the stadium began in 2018 and was completed in time for its official opening on 11 January 2020.
The venue was developed to provide Kyoto Sanga with a purpose-built, football-specific stadium that meets contemporary professional league standards.
Kyoto Sanga, founded in 1922 under a different name, is one of Japan’s historically significant football clubs and has competed in numerous Japanese top-flight league seasons.
Kyoto Sanga has played an important role in Japanese professional football, nurturing both domestic and international talent.
One of the club’s most notable former players is Park Ji-sung, the first Korean footballer to have won both the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Park Ji-sung later enjoyed a distinguished international career, playing for PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, and Queens Park Rangers, further enhancing Kyoto Sanga’s international profile.
