Pete Maravich Assembly Center, universally known as the “PMAC” or “The Pete,” is a historic and electrifying multi-purpose arena located on North Stadium Road on the campus of Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. Since its opening on January 3, 1972, it has served as the primary home for the LSU Tigers basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics teams.

Honoring a Legend: Pete Maravich, known as “Pistol Pete,” played for LSU from 1967 to 1970 in the on-campus John M. Parker Agricultural Center (the “Cow Palace”). He set the still-unbroken NCAA career scoring record (3,667 points) and captivated the nation. The PMAC was renamed to immortalize his transformative impact on LSU basketball and the sport itself. A statue of Maravich stands outside the entrance.
A Championship Venue: The PMAC has been the stage for numerous great LSU teams. It is most famously the home of the LSU women’s basketball program, which under coaches like Sue Gunter and Kim Mulkey has been a national powerhouse, winning the NCAA National Championship in 2023.
Intimidating Atmosphere: Known for its loud, passionate, and often deafening crowds—especially for men’s basketball games against rivals like Kentucky—the PMAC is renowned as one of the toughest places to play in the SEC.

Home of the “Gymbacks”: The arena is the competition home for the LSU women’s gymnastics team, one of the most successful and popular programs in the NCAA. The team regularly draws over 10,000 fans, creating a spectacular and unique atmosphere for collegiate gymnastics.
Volleyball and More: It also hosts the LSU volleyball team and has been used for university commencements, concerts, and other major campus events.
