Overview
The King Power Stadium, originally named the Walkers Stadium until 2011, is the home of Leicester City Football Club, affectionately known as The Foxes. With a capacity of 32,000, it also serves as a venue for rugby union, concerts, and boxing events, making it one of Leicester’s most versatile sports arenas.
Historical Matches and Events
The stadium opened with a football match between Leicester City and Athletic Club from Bilbao, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The first goal at the venue was scored by Roberto Martínez Rípodas, known as Tiko. In 2003, the England national football team recorded their first victory at the stadium.
The King Power Stadium has also hosted international rugby, including three Rugby World Cup matches in 2015. For the first match, 29,000 spectators watched Argentina defeat an opponent, while Romania and Argentina won the second and third matches, respectively.

Leicester City FC, founded in 1884, drew an average home attendance of 29,000 in their first domestic league season at the stadium. The club made history in 2016 by winning their first-ever Premier League title, becoming the 23rd English football champions since Preston North End in 1889.
UEFA Champions League
On 27 September 2016, the King Power Stadium hosted its first UEFA Champions League match, where Leicester City defeated FC Porto 1-0 in front of 31,000 fans. The Foxes went on to win their second, third, and fourth Champions League home games against FC København, Club Brugge, and Sevilla FC, respectively, marking a remarkable European debut.
