Guangzhou Gymnasium is a major indoor sports and events venue located in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou, one of southern China’s most important metropolitan areas. Among the winners was Ma Long, one of the most accomplished table tennis players in history. His success at the event further strengthened the venue’s reputation as a capable host for top-tier indoor sports competitions. Ma Long later became the second table tennis player to surpass one million followers on his primary social media platform, following Zhang Jike, who was the first to achieve this milestone.
Both Ma Long and Zhang Jike are Olympic gold medalists, and their association with events held at Guangzhou Gymnasium has added lasting historical value to the arena.
While Guangzhou Gymnasium has retained its original architectural framework since opening, the venue has undergone multiple phased interior upgrades over the years to meet modern operational and safety standards. These improvements have focused on:
