Eryaman Stadium stands as Ankara’s premier modern football venue, opened on January 28, 2019. The inauguration match featured Ankaragücü against Alanyaspor, marking a new era for football in the Turkish capital. Designed as a state-of-the-art, UEFA-category facility, it replaced the aging Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium as the main shared home for the city’s historic clubs.
Located in the Eryaman district of Etimesgut, this modern arena was built to consolidate Ankara’s football presence and provide a 21st-century matchday experience for fans.
The stadium is uniquely shared by two of Turkey’s oldest and most traditional clubs, creating a dynamic and occasionally tense atmosphere:

Their shared tenancy creates a unique “landlord” rivalry, where both clubs consider Eryaman their home but maintain separate matchdays and fan experiences.

The atmosphere varies dramatically depending on which club is hosting. Ankaragücü matches feature their famous yellow-dark blue colors and loud, constant support. Gençlerbirliği games bring a sea of deep red with more traditional chants.
