Allianz Stadium, originally opened as Juventus Stadium, is the modern home of Juventus Football Club, one of Italy’s most historic and successful football clubs. The stadium officially opened on 8 September 2011 with a football match between Juventus and Notts County from the United Kingdom. Luca Toni, Italy’s 2006 FIFA World Cup winner, scored the first goal in the venue. In Juventus’ first domestic league season at the stadium, they averaged 37,000 spectators across 19 home games. Juventus only lost three of their first 100 domestic top-flight league matches at Allianz Stadium, demonstrating the venue’s role as a fortress for the team.
