Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium is a major multi-purpose sports facility located in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State in southern Nigeria. With a seating capacity of 38,000, it ranks among the largest stadiums in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and serves as an important venue for football, athletics, and large-scale public events.
The stadium is named in honour of Adokiye Amiesimaka, a renowned Nigerian footballer and former international player who represented the national team, the Super Eagles, during the late 1970s and early 1980s. His legacy as a talented winger and his contribution to the nation’s football history make the stadium’s name particularly meaningful within Nigerian sports culture.
The stadium officially opened on 19 July 2015 with a football match, marking the beginning of its role as a modern sporting arena for both state and national events. Although the stadium does not list a permanent tenant, it has been used for various professional football matches, including Nigerian league fixtures, state tournaments, and friendly games.
