A dimmer is a device connected to a light fixture and used to reduce the brightness of light. By changing the voltage waveform applied to the lamp, the intensity of the light output can be reduced. There are different lighting control systems that work well with LED lighting. The most commonly used systems in professional LED lighting are DALI, 0-10V, 1-10V and DMX.
LED Stadium Lights offer simple dimmable solutions for stadium lighting. Different events may require different lighting, even within the same venue. Some events even need different lighting over the course of the event as it progresses from dusk to full nighttime. With dimming capable lights, the ability to adjust the lighting on the fly is possible. Not only does this help provide different end results with the same light, but can also help reduce energy costs by using less power when the lights are dimmed.
Several methods are available to dim lighting. These dimming methods are below three groups:
Dimming of control signal (analogue): 0-10V, 1-10V
Dimming of control signal (digital): DALI
Dimming of control signal (digital): DMX
With a 1-10 V dimming technique, a signal is transmitted between 1 V and 10 V. 10 V is the maximum amount (100%) and 1 V is the minimum amount (10%).
Transmits a signal between 0 and 10 V. The output of the lamp is scaled such that a voltage of 10 V provides 100% light output. And, 0 V provides the least light output.

The drawbacks of 0-10v dimming is that it is not suitable for installations where each light requires its individual dimming percentage. When multiple LED drivers are connected to the same dimmer, they all respond identically to the dimmers current setting. No addressing is possible, all connected LED-drivers react identical on a command from their controller.

DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface)
These dimmer switches use digital protocols to send dimming control signals to the driver and connect to the power supply through separate wires. They do not directly control the energy delivered to the driver. DALI stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface. This is an international standard that defines how lighting equipment should communicate with control and steering systems. Each system consists of a controller and up to 64 lighting components (such as ballasts). Each of these components has a unique address. The controller can control these components because the DALI system can send and receive data. The brightness range of DALI is 0-100%. This dimming model can be for some professional sport fields.

The DMX512 protocol was first developed by USITT to control dimmers from a console using a standard digital interface. DMX512 surpasses the simulation system, but it cannot completely replace the simulation system. DMX512’s simplicity, reliability, and flexibility quickly make it a financially viable protocol of choice, as evidenced by a growing array of control devices in addition to dimmers. DMX512 is still a new field of science, with all sorts of wonderful technologies emerging on a rule-based basis.
DMX also can be used for RGB or RGBW models. Red, Green and blue lights can be built into stadium fixtures. They are expensive but can bring a big dimension to shows and the overall fan experience.

DMX system is also widely used in the sports field. For example, during the opening and closing ceremonies of the sports meeting, RGB lighting effect will be used to render the venue. At this time, DMX system needs to be fully controlled to present a gorgeous effect.
