Allegiant Stadium is a domed stadium in the western United States, located in 3333 Al Davis Way, Las Vegas, NV 89118. It is the home stadium for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels college football team, the Las Vegas Bowl, and the Vegas Kickoff Classic.
Scheduled to host Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, the venue is located on about 62 acres (25 ha) of land west of Mandalay Bay at Russell Road and Hacienda Avenue and between Polaris Avenue and Dean Martin Drive, just west of Interstate 15. At $1.9 billion, it is the second-most expensive stadium in the world. Construction of the stadium began on November 13, 2017, and its certificate of occupancy was issued on July 31, 2020.
Steve Hill, chairman of the Las Vegas Stadium Authority, which owns allegiant stadium, said Monday the development agreement for the stadium and leasing contracts are between the agency and the Raiders.
Steve Hill is the Chief Executive Officer/President of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the destination marketing organization that promotes and attracts tourism, conventions, meetings and special events to Las Vegas and throughout Southern Nevada. The LVCVA is the destination marketing organization for Las Vegas and Southern Nevada, and its mission centers on attracting visitors by promoting the destination as the world’s most desirable location for leisure and business travel. The LVCVA also owns and operates the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop designed by The Boring Company and owns the Las Vegas Monorail, an elevated 3.9-mile system with seven stops throughout the resort corridor.
Under Mr. Hill’s leadership, the LVCC recently completed construction of its $980 million expansion as well as the Convention Center Loop, a first-of-its kind underground transportation system in partnership with Elon Musk’s The Boring Company. The convention center expansion adds 1.4 million additional square feet of exhibition and meeting space to the existing campus for a total of 4.6 million square feet throughout the entire facility.
Mr. Hill owned Silver State Materials from 1987 until its purchase by CalPortland in 2008 where he served as Senior Vice President until 2011. He was then appointed director of the newly established Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) by Governor Brian Sandoval where during his tenure he lured numerous businesses to the state, including Tesla, Apple, and HyperloopOne.
Mr. Hill also serves on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Travel Association, the national advocacy association that represents the travel and tourism industry. Mr. Hill also serves as chair of the Las Vegas Stadium Authority, overseeing the construction of the nearly $2 billion Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders have already paid the $1.25 billion in construction costs for Allegiant Stadium. The $750 million in public financing – the single-largest-ever pot of public money for a stadium project in the U.S. – was raised through bonds and will be repaid over 30 years by collecting room tax and making the required payments.
Allegiant Stadium is the 1.8 million-square-foot world-class home of the Raiders and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) college football team. The 65,000-seat facility includes a retractable natural turf field for the NFL, an artificial turf playing surface for UNLV, large operable walls that open to spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip, a translucent roof, and a variety of premium spaces throughout all levels.
